Wing Tsun, also known as Wing Chun, is a Southern Chinese martial art grounded in fundamental principles. It specializes in close-range contact, fast dynamic movements, and centerline control. This discipline emphasizes simultaneous attack and defense, utilizing economical motions for maximum efficiency, making it ideal for martial arts classes focused on self-defense training.
Passed down through generations, Wing Tsun has grown and evolved, ultimately being taught to Yip Man, whose teachings led to its global recognition and influenced legends like Bruce Lee and many others.
The Wing Tsun Workout is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Chinese martial arts, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and determination. We blend tradition with a modern approach to training, self-defense, and fitness, incorporating effective Wing Tsun techniques into our programs.
Our system is recognised by the British Council Chinese Martial Arts as an authentic Chinese martial art.

At The Wing Tsun Workout, we believe that martial arts, including our Wing Chun techniques, are not just about physical fitness and ability, but also about mental and emotional growth. Training hard is easier when you feel good, but the true key to success in martial arts is pushing through when you don't feel your best.
Our philosophy, rooted in the traditions of Chinese Kung Fu, emphasizes respect, self-discipline, and perseverance. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students can engage in classes, practice self-defence, learn, grow, and become part of a Kung Fu family.

Our core syllabus is based on the teachings of The Phoenix Eye Wing Tsun Association. In our martial arts classes, you will learn a wide variety of Wing Tsun techniques and applications tailored to either the class or the student.
For beginners, the grades cover essential self-defence training, including the first form Siu Nim Tao, footwork, drills, and sparring, as well as valuable communication and de-escalation techniques relevant to self-defence.
As students advance in their Kung Fu journey, they progress to the next form, Chum Kiu, where they learn to handle tricky or multiple opponents and weapons defense. Students also begin Chi-Sao (sticky hands), which enhances their sensitivity and reflexes, crucial skills in Wing Chun.
By Grade 12 (Black Belt), students have had the opportunity to learn the third form Biu Jee and subsequently move on to training with the Wooden Dummy and Long Pole, further enhancing their martial arts capabilities.

Sifu Daniel Buckland (5th Practitioner Grade)
I achieved my 5th Practitioner Grade at the end of 2024. It marked a huge milestone in my journey to master level after a long and challenging path. Completing this in the year of the Dragon felt even more special, as I was born in the year of the Dragon.
My passion for martial arts has been with me since childhood, inspired by icons like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. I explored a few martial arts classes, but nothing truly resonated with me until college, when I discovered Wing Tsun through a flyer. After my trial lesson, I was hooked and now, 20 years later, my love for Wing Chun remains strong.
Throughout my journey, I've trained in various countries and learned from many teachers. I am eager to share that knowledge, including essential self-defense training and Wing Tsun techniques, with anyone willing to learn.
