Wing Tsun is a Southern Chinese martial art based on fundamental principles. It specializes in close-range contact, fast dynamic movements, and centerline control. This discipline emphasizes simultaneous attack and defense, utilizing economical motions for maximum efficiency, making it ideal for martial arts classes focused on self-defense training.
Passed down through generations, Wing Tsun has grown and evolved, ultimately being taught to Yip Man, whose teachings led to its global recognition and influenced legends like Bruce Lee and many others.
The Wing Tsun Workout is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Chinese martial arts, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and determination. We blend tradition with a modern approach to training, self-defense, and fitness, incorporating effective Wing Tsun techniques into our programs.

At The Wing Tsun Workout, we believe that martial arts are not just about physical fitness and ability, but also about mental and emotional growth. You can train hard when you feel good but the key to success is training when you don't feel your best and pushing through.
Our philosophy, rooted in Chinese Kung Fu traditions which flow our Wing Tsun techniques, emphasises respect, self-discipline, and perseverance. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students can engage in classes, practice self-defence, learn, grow, and become part of a Kung Fu family.

Our core syllabus is based on the teachings of The Phoenix Eye Wing Tsun Association. In our martial arts classes, you will learn a wide variety of Wing Tsun techniques and applications tailored to either the class or the student.
For beginners, the grades cover essential self-defense training, including the first form Siu Nim Tao, footwork, drills, and sparring, as well as valuable communication and de-escalation techniques.
As students advance, they progress to the next form, Chum Kiu, where they learn to handle tricky or multiple opponents and weapons defence. Students also begin Chi-Sao (sticky hands), which enhances their sensitivity and reflexes.
By Grade 12 (Black Belt), students have had the opportunity to learn the third form Biu Jee and subsequently move on to training with the Wooden Dummy and Long Pole.

Sifu Daniel Buckland (5th Practitioner Grade)
I achieved my 5th Practitioner Grade at the end of 2024. It marked a huge milestone in achieving a master level after a long and challenging journey. It was even more special to complete this in the year of the Dragon as it felt like I had come full circle, being born in the year of the Dragon.
I have loved martial arts since I was little, watching icons like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee light up the screen. I tried a couple of martial arts classes, but nothing grabbed me until I was in college and saw a flyer for Wing Tsun. I had my trial lesson and that was it; I was hooked. 20 years later, I still love it.
I've trained in many countries, met many teachers, and now I want to share that knowledge, including valuable self-defense training and Wing Tsun techniques, with anyone willing to learn.
